Responsible for dispatching Police, Fire and EMS to various incidents throughout the city. Operates radio, teletype and ProPhoenix CAD/RMS system to facilitate up-to-date and timely records.
Salary: $22.20 - $25.11 per hour

La Crosse County has an opportunity for an Emergency Services Administrator to lead the County-wide public safety communications team, to include planning, organizing, developing and directing the over-all operation of the department. The ideal candidate for this position will have direct experience supervising a 24/7 emergency dispatch operation in multi-jurisdictional public safety, including broad-spectrum emergency communications across all areas of public safety such as law enforcement, firefighting and emergency medical response. Plans, directs and administers the overall operation of the Public Safety Communications Center. Manages department personnel and functions including hiring, promotion, and disciplinary process. Analyzes work loads and makes recommendations for appropriate staffing. Directs the supervision, training and personnel administration for the Emergency Services Department staff. Establishes cooperative working arrangements with participating law enforcement, fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) agencies. Defines, develops and implements changes as appropriate to improve the efficiency of the department operations and delivery of services Develops statistical and planning reports. Prepares and administers the annual Public Safety Communications budget. Recommends purchases and manages the installation, operation and maintenance of the public safety radio system including towers, dispatch consoles, computers, and E9-1-1 telephone system. Ensures that all complaints from the public or other agencies are investigated and addressed. Manages various contracts, such as equipment installation and maintenance contracts.

Training, Experience and Other Requirements

•Five years experience in public safety communications management and planning; and leadership experience with law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency medical services and emergency management operations.
•Experience working in multi-jurisdictional and consolidated dispatching operations.
•Knowledge of computer-aided dispatching systems; radio communication systems, including infrastructure; E9-1-1 systems; and emergency medical dispatching.
•Preference for Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
•May consider other relevant combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
•Must successfully complete a law enforcement background check suitable for working with public safety responders.
