Reason for Announcement:
Responsibilities:
Answers non-emergency, emergency and 911 calls. Independently assesses need and urgency of requests and prioritizes situations. Relays information to various personnel and dispatches emergency response personnel to incident/accident scenes, including law enforcement, firefighters, helicopters, emergency medical personnel and others. Provide basic life support instructions, including CPR following the National Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatch. Provide scene safety instructions to callers who are involved in high risk situations until the first responders or law enforcement officers arrive on scene. Maintain contact with all units on duty; maintain status and location of police, fire, EMS units; inquire, enter, update, interpret, verify, receive and disseminate information from national, state and local law enforcement computer networks as requested by user agencies for missing persons, stolen property, and restraining orders; Run criminal history, check bonds, pill identifiers, CCW, run serial numbers for any items located, monitor several complex public safety radio frequencies: effectively operate the public safety communications system, radio dispatch consoles and other associated equipment. Documents location and details of law enforcement activity including traffic stop, accident, emergency service, fire, hazardous material, and mental crisis situations. Includes dispatching tow company, Emergency Management, Recon, State Patrol, DNR, Hazmat team, highway department, chaplain, funeral home and/or coroner. Operates and maintains radio and telecommunication systems including computer-aided dispatching (CAD) equipment, E911 equipment telephone device for the hearing impaired (TDD), multiple telephone lines, and PC and computer keyboard. Operates TIME System. Enters, modifies, or cancels warrants, restraining orders, and stolen property into the TIME system along with any caution indicators for officer safety. Enters missing person/vulnerable person/juvenile runaway notices into TIME system including elderly with dementia and veterans experiencing service related health conditions. Enters and disseminates Wisconsin Crime Alert Network notifications such as Amber, Green or Silver Alerts. Receives and accurately relays/transcribes information, messages and requests for the Dispatch Center. Enters complaints and other data into State computer databases and in-house computer systems. Retrieves information from computer. Requests ping on phone numbers to help identify suspect/victim location. Performs emergency warning notifications. Provides other agency assistance. Makes contacts between other agencies and county personnel such as initiating alerts for suspects or vehicles. Coordinates meeting locations with agency and local officers. Conducts "fan out" procedures during emergency weather situations. Maintains accurate logs, records and files as required. Maintains daily activity report. Relays information to other employees. Monitors cameras for safety and security of the Communications and Government Centers. Oversees courthouse alarm system, multiple radio frequencies, tower alarms, and generator alarms. Maintains knowledge of current emergency communication policies and procedures and state, national and local dispatch codes, and radio signals. Understands and abides by department policies, procedures and Trempealeau County employee rules as outlined in the Trempealeau County Employee Handbook. Participates in continuing education. Performs clerical and general office functions. Photocopies materials. Operates fax machine. Ability to provide effective credible testimony in courts of law. Maintains confidentiality. Applies customer service skills while responding to public safety needs through professional call-taking and dispatching of public safety services.
