Responsibilities:
The 9-1-1 Public Safety Dispatcher is an entry level civilian position, which performs emergency and non-emergency dispatching of Brodhead police, fire and emergency medical services, as well as other city departments. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to; answering 9-1-1 calls, and through information gathering determining the nature of the call as well as, deciding the proper response and public safety agency to assign to the call for service. In addition to maintaining proper logs and paperwork of all units dispatched and additional resources requested. The Public Safety Dispatcher are also responsible for retrieving and accurately relaying to requesting agencies information contained in the local, state and national data bases, and for entering and maintaining law enforcement data in the appropriate data bases. The Public Safety Dispatchers also perform a wide variety of administrative, cash handling, customer service, building security and clerical functions. These duties and responsibilities require the application of sound judgement and self-initiative in the interpretation of policies, procedures and laws.

- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
