Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

Determine response requirements and relative priorities of situations, and dispatch units in accordance with established procedures. Record details of calls, dispatches and messages. Question callers to determine their locations, and the nature of their problems to determine the type of response needed. Relay information and messages to and from emergency sites, to law enforcement agencies, and to all other individuals or groups requiring notification. Receive multiple incoming telephone calls regarding emergency and non-emergency police and fire service, information and after hour calls for departments within the Village. Maintain access to, and security of, highly sensitive materials. Maintain files of information relating to emergency calls such as personnel rosters, and emergency /fire/EMS pager files. Understand the department’s established policies and procedures.

  • Must be able to use Base station radios.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time with limited or no breaks.
  • Ability to lift paper files and documents weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a confined area with limited mobility.

A Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching police, fire, and EMS to various incidents throughout the Village of Twin Lakes. Responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency calls from the public. Multi-tasking and computer knowledge is vital. This position works shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
